Got to thinking, Jim. If you're running 20% fuel instead of 50% or higher, you may not need to carry any more fuel. Since Nitro is not fuel in and of itself but an oxidizer, by reducing the nitro content, you would actually be carrying more fuel. For example, in my scale 2000 Elam, I carry 20 total ounces of fuel. If I divide that by the compounds that are mixed together, I get:
Nitrous Oxide=10 ounces
Lubricant= 3.6 ounces(figuring 18%)
Alcohol(fuel)=6.4 ounces
Now, by lowering the nitro down to 20%, the numbers for that same 20 ounces will change to:
Nitrous Oxide=4 ounces
Lubricant=3.6 ounces(again, figuring 18%)
Alcohol(fuel)=12.4 ounces
I would end up with an actual fuel increase of 6 ounces, an almost 94% increase in actual fuel
