Just got the new "Kraken 52" mono. It is produced by Prestwich Model Boats, UK. Designed and fabricated by Dave Marles. The hull is 50.5 inches in length. Beautifully laid-up using Kevlar/Carbon weave cloth. Vacuum pressure molded epoxy.

This will be my first gas (petrol) model boat. I was really hesitant, and did'nt really care much for gas at all, to be honest. The shear size of these hulls, and gas engines, are a bit much for me to (physically) handle. I've built several nitro models, but nothing over 41". However, now, since gas has become especially popular in our local district racing I'm apt to join-in (if I want to have fun  :)  ).

When I recieved the boat in the mail I was completely blown-away by the size (it is a big-ass boat). But it is incredibly light weight. I plan to use a CMB 27 Alpha EVO-2.

Excited to get started and complete this boat. I will log progress

(BTW, I'm 6ft 1in standing. But I'm sitting, and this boat is same height as me)

I'm a hardcore nitro guy, but the one boat (actually two) that have tempted me the most to try gas are both Dave Marles' Prestwich boats - the Kraken 52 you are holding and the earlier Sigma. Dave Marles, his products and advice are absolutely top notch.

I'm looking forward to seeing the progress.
