The Steve Muck Lil' Spartan mono is a great little boat. At the time these were produced most were running sub-surface set-up. These mono's have a moderate shallow vee angle.

I run a Spartan Streaker (39in) mono, powered by a Rossi R65RV drum-valve marine, and use sub-surface outdrive strut configuration(3/4in to 7/8in drop parallel), Octura X450 -X455 prop. I use a center turn-fin (front-edge at CG), combined with a rear (starboard transom-mounted) turn-fin. I use 2in to 3in wide trim tabs. It runs absolutely beautiful, stable, and fast. I found this set-up easy to dial-in attitude, and driveability, of boat for me.

If I were setting-up a Lil Spartan (30in) mono, I would use an outdrive strut configuration (approx. 1/2in drop parallel), center-mounted and transom-mounted turn-fins, 1.5in to 2in wide trim-tabs. Octura X447, X450, etc.,..

Anyway, just my approach.

I've attatched portions of an original Steve Muck catalog featuring the Spartan mono's and the assortment of Muck fabricated hardware to provide some "visual" for what was being used at the time. Have fun
