It was common to see K&B .40 & Super Tigre .40 (.29) loop-scavenged, side exhaust engines (and others) used back in the early 1970's when these boats were popular. They were typically fitted with an Octura Kool Klamp for marine conversion. Also custom exhaust stacks (matching the cross-section of exhaust port) were constructed to route the exhaust straight out to the side (out of the engine compartment). The JG brand props were very popular, also Octura.

If it were me I would run a new (current) marine engine (ie. NovaRossi .46, CMB .45VAC, AA .45, etc.,...). Octura prop (X447, X450, X452).

I believe the plywood engine rails have 4-inch wide spacing. You can use Octura 4-50 (4 inch wide aluminum) mount, or equivalent.

Bob Preusse built this Pocket Rocket D.45 back in the mid 70s

an wrote an article about it.it was in a magazine at that time

Bob could not remember when an witch one for sure

any one that can fill in some of the blanks please do so

Marty
