I get what Doug is saying. If a supplier sells select engines made up of stock parts that all match to make a supposedly better stock motor then, they are not going to throw away the left over parts. They will assemble another engine and sell it as stock. That engine may or may not be as good as...
I would go with the pulley start or at least and easy start. These engines start good until they don’t and at that point depending on your age, you either pull your arm out of the socket or have a heart attack.
I think limiting entries on the large races is fine. I don’t feel that applies to the internats. I believe everyone should be allowed to race in the Internats if they choose to do so. It shouldn’t be limited to the fastest guys on the keyboard. When the race is filled in a few minutes a lot of...
I think the Badger dates are wrong. I think they changed The May date because it conflicted with the gas nats. The D4 Director has all the information but once again is keeping it a secret.
It’s all about fun if your a racer or a fun runner. Joe builds his boats for the so that they can be used for either one without any major changes. Enjoy the ride and have fun.

Your doing a lot of extra work by adding the strips and extra bulkhead. These are not necessary and ad weight that is also not good. If you are planning on racing light is good. Almost all of these boats are going the same speed at the end of the straight. The guys that win are cornering faster...
Please post the D4 races. I know they were set in December at the meeting. People are already figuring out where they want to race and setting up their vacations. Let’s not repeat last year when we were still looking for the dates in April.
The only way you can get the engine much lower than using the stock Zipp mounts is to do a belly pan. The boat is a great boat when built to the plans. It is fast and stable. Unless you are a very serious racer just build it according to the plans and you will be very happy with it.
I think part of the problem is risk and reward. The risk is if you get caught it will cost you $25 and you will be disqualified for that race. The reward is you are getting away with something and you may even win.
I think we have to get more aggressive on the punishment. $25 is nothing and I’m...
