It was Dick Caspari of Wichita KS. Raced with him in District 17 of APBA in the 90's and early 2000's. He was a master of fiberglass and carbon fiber repair and build. Repaired boats and built bodies for full size race cars as well.

13mm cranks were solid pin and 12mm were hollow on outboards

The term I have always used is "turboing" the crank. The exit is rounded out and swept back in the direction the crank is spinning.

Paul in the 90's and early 2000's I raced 3.5 and 7.5 Prather OB hydros. Both lower units the skeg was cut off with offset rudders to the right side. Cutting the skeg off allows more undisturbed water to reach the prop. More bite, more speed. Hence why OB tunnel hulls cannot match the hydros...
