Small update. I have the 39" SD4 Seaducer and enjoying this boat so far. It takes turns at speed so much better than the old 42" unknown brand mono did.
My first outing (using the same motor, esc, LiPos, and prop) it was running too wet and hit 80 mph. Another attempt with the LiPos shifted...
I had bought this one from Oscar already built... so I don't know much about the build related to the wood assembly. They are well designed as is. I don't see any reason to deviate from the instructions.
The one thing I do for all my riggers is swap to a speed master Mono strut because I...
I changed to a lower KV TP3640 motor and ran this boat on 4s at 94 mph.
The castle data logs show it has a little more in the setup. I hope to break 100 mph next time out.
I need to get more experience in building wood boats. I'm planning on making a custom rigger soon.
Looking forward to seeing your progress with this one!
Another thing to note is that if you use a power tool to do this it will generate some heat.
All of mine have been 3mm threads. I found running the bit down and letting it cool down for 5 mins before retracting it back out made it considerably better than rushing and having the plastic get too hot.
If you are only looking for GPS speed data maybe all you need is a SKY RC GNSS. You can pull the boat in within 15-30 ft (typical bluetooth range) and your phone can connect via the app and pull the speed and distance traveled.
If you wanted to look at more affordable options outside of...
It is hard to find specs on that 3656 motor.
I did find for the 3660 SSS motor the weight is 245g
The 3674 SSS motor is 370g
Potentially the larger can has more surface area for shedding heat and has higher power handling.
I suppose it depends if you are ok with a little extra weight for the...
I'll add that anyone can have access to free basic CAD software via TinkerCad.com
Tinker CAD is especially easy to use for doing any work with Text. I wish Fusion 360 would add some text functions.
There are plenty of how to videos on YouTube to help you get started.
I wish I knew. The Hydra x logging stops at 353.9 amps
I originally tried to setup this boat to run on a CNHL 2,200 mAh 70c lipo to keep it very light weight. That LiPo ran the boat for 10 seconds. It got pulled down to 4.8v overheated and puffed like crazy. I am lucky it didn't burst into...
I picked up this used R4 rigger from Oscar Love in north Texas.
It was a bare hull and had been crashed/repaired. With a little love it made it back into the water this week.
I am really happy with the results of this setup.
