    K&B 7.5

Running on the rich side is definitely good. But if the K&B has very tight fit at TDC, it should not be run too rich. The engine will not get up to proper running temperature if it is too rich and the piston/sleeve will remain tight. Although I have not experienced it myself, I heard it can...

    Blast from the past!

Please post some pictures and running clips. I had a K&B7.5 in it and it was a lot of engine for the boat. I am converting it to surface drive and I hope it will settle it somewhat. k

    Blast from the past!

I used to fly gliders and I remember LSF has a nostalgia class. It will be fun if there is a similar event/class for RC boats

    Blast from the past!

I do not think HP (Hirtenberger) ever used PDP (Perry direction porting) in any of their engine lineup. HB engines did use PDP. k

    Blast from the past!

I am restoring a Dumas CF 40 that I built back in 82. Of all the vee hulls that I have seen, this Dumas 40 has the most pleasing lines. It looks very much like the Cigarette offshore boat of the era. The K&B 7.5 turning a JG I25 was too much power. It probably ran mid 40's in a straight line...

    Blast from the past!

Nice. My first hydro was an original 20 size Dragonfly with a shovel nose. The kit was all birch ply unlike the pickle fork version. If you have not done so, I suggest you glass the non-trip where it meets the deck. I did not glass it on my first build and it soon crack after a couple of...

    6mm cable collet

Thanks guys for your replies. As I mentioned I bought a Prather type collet meant for a Zenoah. But the thing is too bulky for a .40 engine. I have since bought an Octura collet on Ebay. The Prather type collet (Aeromarine collets look almost identical) can have serious runout. I have...

    6mm cable collet

Thanks Tom for replying. I have found an Octura one on Ebay. It is a 6mm for a .150 cable. I figure .150 will do for a .40 engine of that era. k

    6mm cable collet

All, I’m finishing up a vintage project. The plan is to use a period correct HP gold star .40 engine. The thread size is 6mm. I bought a 6mm Prather connector but it is very bulky as it is meant for a Zenoah. Is there any other 6mm cable connector out there? Does Octura offer one? Thanks, k

    Which is the quietest.45 muffler?

Oh, I am not worrying about rust. I am thinking the water may not exit the muffler completely and the trapped water may run back into the engine when it stops Thanks, k

    Which is the quietest.45 muffler?

Hi Rick and Ronnie, I cannot really pack the muffler with Scotch Brite or Chore Boy because I am injecting water into it. But I may give it a try and route the water out the sponson. It is a good trade if it can muffle the bark. Thanks, k

    Which is the quietest.45 muffler?

Thank you all for your replies. I am actually looking for an add-on muffler. I do have a .45 Mac quiet pipe but I would need to enlarge the transom opening - something I try to avoid if possible. Although I've never tried them, I am sure the CMB, Nova and Irwin pipes are all quiet. I have a...

    Which is the quietest.45 muffler?

What is the most quiet .45 size muffler? I have only used the Prather muffler plus another unknown make that I can inject water into. I have found the Prather muffler to be very loud. I even tried an internal stinger but it does not muffle the bark too much. Combining a Prather muffler with an...
