What's the history of having to conceal the exhaust? Seems to me that the original sport class was to limit the setup to manufactures exhaust like an airplane exhaust. Anyone know how hidden pipes became the rule?

There was or is 2 classes in NAMBA, Sport 40 and Sport 40II Look at the tules as the one class is for the side exhaust airplane engines with regular mufflers, People just wanted to go faster!!

Seems to me, non-exposed pipes is a NAMBA rule not IMPBA.
I personally do NOT like exposed pipes. But hey, that's just me!!

Namba rule is for the pipe or muffler to be hidden, Sport 40 is side exhaust from .35 to .40 engines. Sport 40 II is a .45 tuned pipe engine.

sport 40 I has not run in 20 yrs or so. Thats a dead class.

No reason to limit the exhaust. You just have to get it under the deck/cowl. Easy to do. Yes all nitro sport classes.
