Hi guys just a short story, this rigger was built by me in 1991 and won some good races. In 1996 a close friend of mine bought it with a new motor but boat never went to water.A month ago this guy call me telling that he would like to be back to boats and came to my workshop with this beauty in absolutely perfect conditions.Motor is a P80 nib ( red picco box) from 1994...pics are better than words. The only mod is the SG turnfin .Look at the Octura prop X462...I thought it was a plastic one. Next saturday will be its maiden lol.

Thanks

Gill

wow, very cool Gil! Nice job. Thanks for sharing. Would be nice to see a video of it running

Yes, the Prather, Piranha hydro kit was the epoxy-glass answer to the wood constructed Octura, Wing Ding 60 size outrigger. Provided easier/quicker construction, avoiding difficulties of building a straight hull (especially critical for an outrigger). Although I believe the Wing Ding was lighter in weight (due to it's wood construction)

Thanks friends I also was surprised how this boat remained in such a good conditions after so many years and yes it is equipped with a RPM rod and some mods I did to the sleeve and piston .At that time I used to use a turbo Keeley head ...we still have one for test...I must take a video next weekend as the owner is stoked to be back. soon!

Gill

Gill you should get some video of it running, I imagine anything on the net is old lower resolution.

- I looked on you tube couldn't find any samples of it running,

Bradley you are right I also couldn't find any good video but tomorrow I hope to get a good one.David 20 years of storage in the tropics can be tough on brass...look at the nipples and carb fortunetely nothing serious and today we already test the engine and I guess this boat will turn heads at the lake.

Thanks

Gill

Yes it's good that you can document the run with a video a rare chance to see this vintage

design run in 2018. Those are old servos the wiper blade style pots get corrosion over the years

may give you trouble did you change them out?

Hi just a quick update .....we couldn't test the boat yet but if the weather forecast is correct next week boat goes to water. Thanks Gill

Here is a pic of my old Piranha...Late 70s I think???? (Or was this a Wing Ding...can't remember)
