    THE BEAST!

Yes wrapping the pipe dose a lot to keep things going. Also found that opening intake timing on the nitro eng at BDC help a lot. Tested a duel rear cone pipe and this also helped. Looked at the AB fat pipe for inspiration on my 1.01 pipe.

    THE BEAST!

Over rev is the holly grail if you ask me. at top speed the boat is light on the water and has inertia to keep it going. Dose not take much to keep the revs going. I have always thought of it as taking the governor off the eng as fare as RPM potential. So what is holding back the RPM's on a eng in a boat with a optimal set up? At what point do harmonics take over the eng and every thing just gets in the way? What will hold it back from free spooling at top RPM? Just a few questions??????

No problem. some times the best stuff just happens spontaneously. What ever happen to the Dyno with the disk drive magnets for a brake? Still think the torque cradle with a brake would be the best set up. Could load and unload the eng gust like it was on the boat going around the track.

There was a Dyno that used a belt to drive the wheel. Think it was some one from Sweden if I remember correct tuning RS .91's The bearing on the wheel shaft for the pulley was a clutch bearing. The wheel could run at half speed then. Would also not drag the eng on deceleration.

    THE BEAST!

This is a new place I found. After Greg passed away I eater had to do it my self or find some one new. Too much $$ in buying balls of different sizes. https://www.ortechceramics.com/products/ceramic-bearings/hybrid-ceramic-bearings/hybrid-deep-groove-ball-bearings/6202-hybrid-ceramic-bearings-15x35x11/ This is the first time I have tried them. You have to wait for them to make it to your Spec. Took about 6 weeks. Just have to put in the notes when you order what radial clearance you want. .0008 to.0012 on inside bearing and .0004 to.0008 on the fly wheel end bearing. The clearance is what makes them work so good. That and all those balls to carry the load. Twice as much as a caged bearing. If the turbine eng use them to 100,000+ RPM thy must be good.............

I run this type of bearing in my VAC 1.05 and my RS 1.01 for years now. It works killer. I wear the sleeves and piston out before the bearings. Had a set in my 1.01 that has seen 2 P/L worn out and still ran smooth. Never had a ceramic bearing fail on me yet when set up like this.

    HEAD CLEARANCE

I like to see the tang that way I can check right to the edge and know I am there. With a tapered squash and no flat spot it is nice to know you are at the edge. You can also check the squash angle knowing the edge and chamber ends thickness no matter what type of crown or dish you have on the piston. O and you don't have to tear it down to check it. Cheep as heck to do also. Just get a dial caliper off EBAY for a few bucks.

OK got the bearing and thy look killer. $72 to the door custom built full complement ceramic balls. Thy feel good. Plenty of radial clearance to not heat up. Nice end play on the crank . Not worth doing them my self at that price.

    Ceramic Head Buttons?

Dose some one have the figures for thermal transfer of different metals? I am not seeing trapping of heat in the chamber as dropping the density enough in are small eng to make a difference. Now having the chamber hot to flash off the Nitro I can see being a +. Also the squash being cooled down so it is not a tight hot spot for detonation to occur. Also it will remove heat from the piston. on the outer edge where is thinnest at the 90 deg corner. I stopped testing before I tried Ductile iron for a head button. Would be nice to see some one give it a good try. I have a feeling if made right it could do all the above . I will get back to it one day and give it the old Collage try...........................LOL

    Try ductile iron.
