What happened to the Van's racing Thor boats?

Ron Shaw is a distributor for Thor and and the new Taboo from Vans racing. Contact Carl Van Houten he still sells them also
  4. I used the total boats 5:1 epoxy kit today sealing 1 of 2 Jae hulls. So far it looks good. I applied a liberal amount with a hobby brush then massaged it in the wood with gloves on. After it sat bout 10 minutes I scrapped the excess epoxy off with an old credit card then wiped it down with a paper towel. let it set about 15-20 minutes and then did the same process again. The only problem I had was the epoxy not being as thin as I wanted. This made it harder to spread but the next hull I will warm my shop and the epoxy first. It was about 60 degrees in my shop so I'm sure the cured time will be longer. Taking in consideration this is my first time sealing a hull I can't compare my experience with the total boats epoxy kit with the popular west system but Overall I'm happy with the total boats system. It's a lot cheaper than West systems and is very low to no odor.

    advise needed

Hey Guys its been a while since I was on this forum so I hope I am still welcome. Even thou they are on the back burner I am still fascinated by these tunnel boats. Me and a couple of guys have 3 or 4 tunnels boats each and are always smack talking about out running each other. We haven't been to the pond a a couple of years but all the smack talking is getting us interested again. I have a cobra tunnel with a water cooled OS and my buddy has a gold head K&B on a lightweight VS1 and I think my Boat is plenty fast enough but his screams....anybody got any recommended or tips on out running him. I have some o'donnel blues and some technology hobbies 60%. I believe I was running a grim racer 40X52 3 blade prop. Its a short 350ft pond so its like a short track race..lol. I'm sure he will see this but it will only add to the smack talk..lol..he also has a sniper with a redhead cmb....I got to figure out how to out run him with an OS..I also have a VS1 OS combo.

On the K&B website has said "in process" on all their outboards for a number of years. They are not available anymore.

    motor mount

Looking for ideas for a brushless motor mount to go into a JAE 21G2. I'm converting 2 unfinished hulls to FE. The Jae21G2 hull is around 5/8 wider than the Jae21Fe. I'm not sure how wide the JAE33fe is and the motor mount that comes with that kit isn't sold by zippkits seperately.

    JAE 21 G2/FE

Hey guys Im getting ready to seal 2 JAE 21 G2 hulls but first have to work out a few minor detail. I am converting these hulls to FE and due to the wider 2 7/8 +- tub the Zippkitts motor mount for the JAE 21 FE is too narrow. I noticed that the JAE 33 FE kit comes with a mount but it isn't offered separate. Who makes a a motor mount that has an adjustable width option? It wouldn't need much adjustment. Less than 1/4 each side. My buddy bought one of the carbon fiber/aluminum mounts for his hull and I think it will work but will have to be epoxied it down. I'm just looking for other options before order one.

JAE 21 GT vs G2 Front Sponsons

My buddy's FE ultimate hardware kit came missing the boom tube collars. He contacted zippkits and they shipped them right out. Kuddos to Joe/Zippkits. Top notch service.
  15. Anybody got a crash course video on applying epoxy to a wood Jae rigger hull? I have a total boats 5:1epox kit I bought just for 2 riggers I built. I've already sealed the insides of both tubs with BSI finishing epoxy. A detailed how to would work. Details like what grit sandpaper between coats and applicators suggested.

    Painting a VS1

Hey guys I finally finished the repairs on VS1. I want to paint it now. I'm thinking I shouldn't completely sand thru the factory clear to keep it sealed. What is the best procedure to prep it for paint?

    tunnel bottom side ?

No problem Bruce Clark. I am a newbie on boat design....I found that post by Rodney pierce a while back and it answer a lot of my questions. I've yet to build a tunnel but I have a tunnel kit on the way that was designed by someone else. I hope it gives me some ideas while I build it.

    tunnel bottom side ?

I've been toying around with autodesk autocad trying to design my own tunnel hull. Does more dead rise angle increase stability in rough water or is it mostly for turning?
  24. I bought 2 JAE 21G2s for me and a friend a couple yrs ago and started building them but due to other hobbies they fell to the back burner. All I have left to do is finish a couple sponsoons on one of them and seal them. Now we have decided to go electric. I don't want to start another kit and I noticed that there was not a lot of difference in the G2 and FE. Zipkitts doesn't sell the ultimate hardware kit for the JAE 21FE anymore. I'm guessing the JAE33FE ultimate kit will work? Looks the same
