My wife bought a box of junk a couple years ago. Dug this out while cleaning up flat nose and a what looks like a u71 sport 40
That Dumas Hotshot OB Tunnel hull was my first RC boat. I raced it and modified it for many years. See my photo album for pics.

The old Dumas hotshot and K&B 3.5 were like standard issue model boats for first timers !!
Guilty as charged !! I think my first one weighed twice what it should have...between all the epoxy and 2 part foam and lead nose weight....geez.... 😀😃

Live and learn!!

You're almost describing my first boat, Frank. Mine was a Dumas Sport 20 Pak that weighed in at over 8 lbs. The one I redesigned and built back in 2011 weighs in at just over 5 lbs ready to run. What I find interesting is that I dropped over 35% of the weight and still have a better built boat than what I had back in 1982. Where yours and mine are different is that I didn't have any two part foam or lead weight in my boat, just the supplied wood, Dumas hardware, engine, radio gear and lots of epoxy

And that wood left a lot to be desired too...
I think the framework was cut from
old interior door skin blanks...rough as a cob...
Funny thing was, I thought it was the fastest thing on water...right up to the day I went out to the local RC club pond...

I got out of my truck and someone had a .67 rigger blazing out on the pond... I was too embarrassed to take my junk out of the truck after seeing that run!!

Unfortunately Dumas has been slowly getting out of RC boat. Only a couple of tunnels remain in the lineup.
