So after speaking with Julian for a little while now, I decided to purchase both molds from him. I’m not a builder myself however the person who will be building the boats for me has been building molds and fills size boats for decades. Vision tunnel boats are going to be built again. As of right now we will have them available for sale by February. Im currently looking into a few different build options. Fiberglass, carbon fiber and possibly Kevlar. When I know exactly what pricing will look like, I’ll post it then. We have a material supplier already in place but for the sake of keeping things simple for now, both will only be built in white as I don’t want to buy a bunch of colors at the current moment. Any questions feel free to ask them here or PM me.

want some free advice.. (if you dont just move past my post)

I am very excited for your moxey on this.

The Vision boats I have raced against are AWESOME hulls.. A VERY, VERY good boat.

To make this work... (again take this as you may).. TWO SIMPLE RULES! (I know you know these!)

#1. Just gets boats out the door...
#2 Make SURE to make them available when needed...

This alone will VERY MUCH help in the battle to "KEEP" tunnel boat racing strong.

If it was me.. I would make them in Glass ONLY and come in one color (WHITE). I would WAY pass on the CF and I MIGHT consider Kevlar in the future as a bottom layer.

If people want a color choice recommend a good painter. FOR NOW.. as things go.. maybe one could add color options.

#1 and #2 RULE this post however.. the other "things" will muddy the water and what we REALLY NEED.. are boats!

Glad to see these molds are in someone hands that will build them properly ,AWESOME boat -
where are you located ?
When you get up and running and things sorted out , if you want to consider a MOD-VP option for the 21 , reach out to me. I have Rich Junkers old personal boat and I would be willing to work with you. It runs extremely well and has some neat tricks to the pod and aft end of the sponsons. I also have a spare cowl for the 21 if you need to kick a mold, just send me a message.

Grim has good advice, keep it simple. Kevlar is great for bullet proof vests but not an advantage in a model. If you want to go trick I would find someone who does epoxy. Good luck they are great hulls we have set a few records with and more in the works. I have an 8 cell FE [40 boat) that runs and turns above 70 mph.

I would follow Grims advice. Stay away from carbon and kevlar. Glass is the best material for our boats. If you are using epoxy, what will the white be? I am not aware of an epoxy gel coat.

So my .02 I stick with Fiberglass and offer 3 colors. White, yellow, red. You could offer carbon fiber, but only as “made to order” type.
Also Get know social media, Facebook, Instagram, websites, forums. This get your boats out there and let people know your still making boats.

I appreciate it but white will be the only way they are going to be offered. I have a place Im In discussions with that will most likely be the place they are distributed through. They will take care of the advertising end of the business.

So after much consideration and hours of discussions. I’m going to NOT be building these boats. Unfortunately for me right now there aren’t enough hours in a day to do everything I want to do. Having to leave town this evening on business which is one of many trips in the near future won’t allow me to accomplish what I set out to do. The person who will be building them, will be announcing that soon I’m sure.
