Are there any plans/drawings about to build a Northwind Style Mono race boat

I would like to build one or similar to the Northwind series, at least

thanks

Shane

I saw a lower fiberglass pan for one on eBay the other day. That's what I would do, find a pan and splash it. Make any changes you want to the plug and pull a mold. Pretty easy build from there to install floor, bulkheads, transom, stringers and deck.

What class size are you going for? Back in the day I ran .20 & .40 sizes.

that’s a heck of a find there! It looks to be a (never finished) Northwind 20 kit hull (as the seller claims it is 20” long, which is approx equal to the 20 size Northwind). Not many in existence these days.

It would be worth using as a plug to create a mold from, which can then be used to fabricate a new bare hull for yourself (epoxy glass, and not polyester fiberglass, as this original hull consists of).

Thanks Daivd,
there was also an all wood boat similar to the Northwind, made in Japan at the time, called Sirroco , but i think only up to 20 size engines

the Japanese model boat kit I’m thinking of was the “Transonic”, originally produced by Kyosho (late 1970’s/early 1980’s). Also delta shaped design. There are a few threads on here somewhere. A great running hull

Here are some pics David of the Sirocco , length is 25'' (probably good for a modern 12 engine these days) , all plywood, no fiberglass , I'm thinking a 30-32'' version would be good with a modern 21 engine and hardware, this boat was built about 35 years ago

thanks Frank, the small nails were removed after glue was set and filled, I was only quite young when my dad built it, long time ago now

I finally was able to get my Go.21 broke in on my northwind 20 with a x637 and 30 percent nitro. . Here is the first day seeing what I could get out of it . I think I need to shorten the pipe next. it is super stable and turns great though. I like it better than my eaglet so far. I have a northwind 40 I am getting ready with a picco 45 will be neat to run it in the spring.

That looks like a cross up between the eaglet and northwind. What a beauty.

Old pics I found on the net, it's a "pilot" kit from Japan by OK Model
