Hi-

Would like to hear some opinions on radio box Rx On/Off switches... what's everyone's

preference?... needs to be as small as possible. I don't have much faith in this Futaba

switch (see attach'mt.)

Also, like to hear everyone's tricks regarding better engagement with servo/Rx/ battery

plug pin connections... my connections became a bit sketchy and we took a small jeweler's

flat blade screwdriver and put a mild crush on the female sockets in the connector bodies.

Thanks for any input.

Tim

I've used those futaba switches for many yrs & no issues. I also soak everything down with WD-40 after taping all connections. Then tape up box

Futaba switches are reliable , never had one fail but I try to replace them after a few years redundantly . I use a small bit of tape on battery and any servo extensions .

Look at these for replacements for Futaba #2170

heavier 22awg wire for newer 6 volt battery packs and servos, I remove the charge plug and just charge the battery, this takes a little skill to take the switch apart and cut off charge leads.

soak in corrosion x, wipe off, ready to go...............

I cant find a pic of the switch, but it looks like the standard Futaba, but has heavier wires.

A boot like this over an ordinary toggle switch is really waterproof.  The Dubro actuators will leak a little around the shaft.

I have these water proof locking switches all wired and ready to use. They have a battery retention clip built in.

The washer on the switch has a recess that captures the oring so it can't squeeze out when tightened.

Thank you.

On my JAE I did something similar as Ray.

Recently I did other boats with a Tamiya connector, see the second picture. Works very good and the switch / connector can not come loose and you don't have any problems with the "switch" getting wet.

If you can find one of the old Noble 4PDT switches there's nothing better IMHO, like having 2 switches in 1.

Spring load it on and you have a near perfect switch for our tough environment.  :)

Thanks, Terry... yeah, those are ol' school cool... some of the old systems used those.

I've always had good results with Switchcraft products, in various apps.
