Geared lower.....

Likely be the only real fix..

Grim
Do you want higher revs on the flex and use a smaller prop?
Joern,Thats what is working for us on the 67s. Bury the prop deeper, 55-57mm diameter, more pitch, let it turn up. We saw incredible speeds at this past Fall Nats over past 67 races and we are just beginning and all had new engines. The 91 OB will require even more thought.
That has been my goal for at least a decade. Smaller props provide much better handling, specially in the corner, gives you better acceleration and engine is easier to tune as well. Now this is gonna be quit interesting, we`ve allready abused the lowers with quit heavy electric motors on high revs, so I`m sure the cable will handle it (for a while) but we have not had as high load as a 57 mm on the 3/16" cables.

Has anyone tried to run the 67 on a Lawless drive? Not sure if the steep flex angle on the K&B lower hurts the cable more than on a Lawless....
Shane ran a lawless lower on his 91, I think the 67s have worked well with either. I think regardless the issue you are fighting is a small, short shaft at a steep angle with a lot of power forcing it to turn.Geared lower, or a custom lower with a longer shaft/ more gradual bend would solve that issue. Reducing load on the shaft of course couldnt hurt either, where the smaller prop comes into play.
Wise beyond your years Pound Puppy- now get to work on designing that new lower its gonna require.

Funny how that is only being "said out loud" now Shane and Jamey....

I hope others are not stuck with these beasts and not able to unleash them.

Did you try any of my flex shafts?? I Dont think they are anything special but I am curious...

I`m still waiting for cables, Kris...

I have a couple of VP outboards as well, maybe it is worth looking into them... Only concern is the weight

However it is not any problem to design and have a new lower made, it is just all about cost.

G drive is to big ,need a way to put bigger flexs in 7.5 lowers , that why I have turn tables,

A few more parts are made, the throttle servo mount for .46 that I mentioned earlier and also for the 67 / 91 with needlemount.
Servomount for steeringservo, it takes the Savox SW-0241MG.
Parts are all made by Andreas.

Furthermore Andreas has progress on the new AN-980 tunnel as well.

I`ve thought alot about the lowers, and I think I will need to look into designing something new. It could be usefull for the .46 as well since our tunnelhight is a little high even for the K&B 45 lower...

It brakes flexs running 7.5 props 67 and 91 , all my boats run lawless.
Shane,

Jim Johnson, David Ashmore, Jimmie Shaver, and I were all running Hyperperformance flex shafts and NONE of us are breaking shafts. These are mm shafts that are slightly larger than others 3/16 shafts and utilize heavier duty wire that is also slightly larger than anything else available. These are the key now and are what I am recommending to all of my customers. Many are experimenting with even larger mm cables and are communication with Fred to design a lower between the 7.5 and G lower untit for these 91s so we can turn even larger props. A lot of progress is being made very quickly. Stay tuned for even mor news.

Regarding a new lower for the 67-91, how much would you guys say is a maximum price? Theres a big gap in price (and quality) between the existing lowers.

Imo a new lower should have the same interface as the K&B to allow use of existing transom brackets.

New steeringwings are made for the K&B 7,5 lower.
And the AN-980 prototype are ready from Andreas. Now I need to make a plug and mould some cowlings.
I hate that work more than anything else for sure!!

Do you know if Andreas is coming over for the WinterNats next year ?

I doubt it, none of us have boats that can compete with you guys on your tracks.

Would have needed a week prior to the race to dial in all boats and engines. It is a huge difference in engine setup when 25% nitro is a maximum, specially on the 21.

67 and 91 is no problem on 25%

Have you had any problems with that engine mounted servo? Seems the vibration would be hard on it.
Yes, but not caused by vibrations. The small Savox is actually leaking. I started to fill the bottom case with white grease and did the same on the top, have been good so far.

The std size servo have been working without any problems. However this is very cheap servos, so if they say goodbye after a while it is ok with me. I allways have new servos in spare.

when using smaller dia props with more pitch is there a loss of top end speed ??? thanks bob
