Hey Gang,

Long Post, but PLEASE read... Concerns the 2024 IMPBA Atlanta Spring Nationals.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are being forced to change venues for the 2024 IMPBA Atlanta Spring Nationals. The race will now be held at the SOWEGA pond in Sycamore, GA:

SOWEGA Model Boaters
1966 Robert Davis Road
Sycamore, Georgia. 31790

Nothing else is changing, the dates and the format will remain the same. We are just moving the race to Sycamore as we continue to work with the new landowners in Atlanta on a go-forward plan for our home pond. We had hoped to have a resolution by now, but things are still up in the air concerning our future at the Atlanta site. Rather than hoping to have a new agreement in place before the race and then having to cancel at the last minute, we decided to take action now and give everyone as much notice as possible about the change of venue. If for any reason you cannot or will not attend due to the venue change, please let me know by responding to this email ASAP. We will be offering a full refund to anyone who chooses not to attend.

Accommodations for the event can be found in both Ashburn and Tifton, GA. Ashburn is less expensive and closer, but hotel and food choices are rather limited. Tifton. GA is approx. 20 minutes south of the pond and has ample food and dining options. The SOWEGA property does have several RV sites available with power and water hookups (no sewer). The cost is $30 per night and must be paid in advance. If you are interested in securing a camping spot please contact Julie Gilley at 229-392-4936 and she can provide more information.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we take the necessary steps to ensure the 2024 IMPBA Spring Nationals not only survive but thrive. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this causes those who are registered to attend. The situation is not ideal, but the circumstances are beyond our control and we are doing our best to work with the hand we have been dealt. To help keep everything straight and avoid potential mistakes please send all inquiries concerning the race to [email protected]. I won't be able to keep up with all the changes that are undoubtedly coming if I’m getting hit with phone calls, texts, and emails.

Thanks,
Lamar Huff
