"Cleaning up ports"

I have read many posts about "cleaning up the ports" on a motor. Am I correct in thinking this is simply de-burring the ports (I often see chrome flash on new engines) and smoothing or rounding the sharp machine edges leading into the port?

Eric,

Just clean the "flashing". There is no need to round the edges.
