For Sale 3.5 WOF Tunnel & Engines

I’m getting out, my time has become to limited to continue boating. Basically this is everything but a radio and starter, perfect for a friend who wants to get into boating. Though I'd perfer to sell as a set, I may consider parcing out if no one will take the whole set. $450 for everything...

    creeping needle

Kroggs, correct it is in a brass tube. It is an O.S. carb. I kind of tried your suggestion, I didn't replace the o-ring with a thicker one (locating such was more effort than I wanted to dedicate to the task), but I did swell the original o-ring. Didn't seem to help a whole lot. I think i'm...

    creeping needle

I'm looking for suggestions to help keep a screw type highpspeed needle (screw type implying you use a flat-blade screwdriver to turn it) from creeping out of adjustment. As the engine runs the needle vibrates itsel into a leaner setting. the worst I've experienced is the needle leaning itself...

    Porting question.

sorry, not to derail the thread. I'm curious about the squish area on the head with this type of porting. Is it typically parallel to the piston face or tapered; and what is the squish area (%) relative to the area of the piston face?

    need prop info for a k&b 3.5

+1 on the X440, I think it's a little more forgiving if your set-up and needle aren't dead on.

    Degree Wheel

I use a digital caliper and an excel spread sheet. Granted my method forces you to disassemble the engine to measure rods and ports; but every time I take in a new engine it gets a once over any way. I like this method because the whole engine ends up documented. Never used a degree wheel...

    Head Clearance

Mike, Once you drop the head, you also want to be mindful of your engine's new compression ratio. When I took my K&B .21 down to .005" on 50% I ended up changing the head button to one with a slightly larger volume. Also a cooler plug (I went from medium to med-cool) might be in order...

    a camera on a rigger..

When my Dad worked for Evinrude in the 60s & 70s he was involved in one of their Kneel down hydro programs ('68-'72) in California. I can vaguely remember heading to the lake and watching the racing & testing.

    a camera on a rigger..

LOVED IT! that was awsome. Was it an optical illusion 'cause of the 170 lense or was the LH front sponson boom flexing a lot in the turns (under load)? Kinda looked like that's what ultimately caused the hook.

    Careers with R/C Boats

Blake, One of my older Bros. is in naval architectur. In additin to being an ME he has a masters in fluid dynamics and a Dr. for the corrosive reaction of non-ferrus metals in a marine environment at the molecular level. (I still don't know what that is  ) My dad is an ME with a...

    ANODIZING

Shane, I don't do anodizing but I deal with them on a near daily basis. If all of the parts you want anodized will be the same color, you should be able to have a local anodizer do everything for a lot charge ($300-$400). But like you're asking, the cheep route is to find a fellow Int'l...

    .15-.16 head volumes

Jerry... I thought DANGER was your middle name! Thanks guys, I guess I'll just have to find some heads and measure them. So much for taking the easy way out.

    engine tuning pipe question

Tommy, This is a program I'm putting together as a personal project. I wasn't planning on sharing it with "the community". There are other individuals on Int'l Waters who have put a lot of time and effort into creating PROOVEN software. Through this project I have REALLY come to respect...

    engine tuning pipe question

I guess I don't see why I wouldn't want to keep it as an excel program  Excel is pretty simple and is powerful enough for my needs. though I may dump it into access later.
