    Family fun this winter

In an attempt to pass the time this winter with something the whole family can participate in, I decided to build an indoor race track in my basement. So far it has been a success. My 7 and 9 year are really into it, and haven’t even asked to play video games in 2 months. They rush to get...

Bob Costas… The new poster boy for gun control

The quote reaffirmed by Bob Costas…“If Jovan Belcher didn't possess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today." REALLY? Lack of a gun did not stop O.J. Simpson. It is so easy to blame an inanimate object rather than taking ownership of the real cause behind domestic violence...

Be careful what you type on forums with your name displayed

Just a reminder to those of you who type before you think... Be careful what you type on forums where your name is displayed: The Maine Republican Party is taking a Democratic state Senate candidate to task for playing a popular online game, and making crude, vicious and violent comments on...

Do FE Limited classes result in more carnage?

A point was brought up in another thread on another site about the limited classes. Do classes such as these (those requiring equipment parity) create an environment that leads to more boat on boat contact and carnage? A secondary point was also made, that unless you command lane #1 at the...

Glassing technique for securing tank tray in Seaducer

I have a new Seaducer that I'm rigging for D-mono and I'm wondering how others have glassed the fuel tank tray to the bottom of the hull. I have 1.5oz - 6oz glass cloth that I can use. Should I roll the glass and wet it out so it lays under the sides of the tray?? What have some of you done...

Running surfaces... How rough is too rough?

I know many people rough'en up their running surfaces... I usually do as well by using 400grit paper to reduce stiction (sp). BUT... I'm fiberglassing a tunnel hull right now and I use peel ply on top of the curing glass to soak up the excess epoxy and to avoid sanding between plys. When you...

    Got crank?

During my seasonal tear down I noticed this on the crank shaft of my CMB 45HR. Anyone have a spare crank? The needle bearings look OK... one is a bit out of round. Regardless, I'll be racing it until it lets go or I get some new guts for it. ;)

    Team Ducati JAE 21

I just finished rigging my new JAE 21 for the P-Limited Hydro class. I wanted to give my JAE a little personality so I designed an epoxy glass cowl for it. It has a bit of a Retro dragster look. I'm going to start testing props this week :)

    New Addition: PT Sport 40

I maidened the new addition to my racing fleet today. A Phil Thomas Sport 40 It was a VERY good day with the exception of a brand new HS-85MG dorking out... must have been a bad pot from the factory. The ride stance seemed a bit light in the front on smooth water, even with 4oz of lead in the...

    Fluid Dynamics of Drag

I found this video about Fluid Dynamics of Drag and thought I would share. Very interesting stuff. It makes me consider putting an air foil around my rigger's boom tubes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftq8jTQ8ANE&feature=player_embedded

    Mold release

I’ve recently made a plug and mold for a canopy to use on my FE rigger (My first mold attempt.) I used FibreRelease on the plug and was not very happy with its release. I have since cleaned up my mold and re-polished it. I was wondering what some of you use successfully as a release agent for...

2 Part Epoxy Primer in aerosol can

I was thinking of using this on my glass hull (SS45)to seal it. I plan on having a paint shop shoot PPG auto paint and clear, but I'm concerned that nitro may attack the paint via small pin holes underneath. I'm hoping this might help seal the under side of the paint. Anyone try this stuff? LINK
