I have create an oil tanker : there is an oil pick up in the strut. The oil goes back to the front of the tube, just with the pressure. I have made some oil pressure measurement,by measuring how high the oil goes in a pipe when getting out of the strut : 1,4 meter, eg a pressure of 0,13...

    Flex shaft lube

I use oil and teflon tube for a 1/4 flex at 30 000 t/mn. I would add that the best solution depends on the flex size and the rotation speed : I would use: teflon only for small flex at any speed Grease for large flex at low speed eg 15000 t/mn Oil and teflon for large flex at high rotation...

    Fluid Dynamics of Drag

Hi, I have made some rough calculation on a rigger. There are at least three sources of drag : air drag, hull drag on the water and rudder drag. You may had tne turn finne. Air drag is between 1/10 & 1/20 of the total drag and mainly due to the hull surface and not to the booms. Rudder and...

Some update. Construction is over. It 's now working with teflon and oil : less noise and vibration. The rigger is running fine (over 80 mph). Some tunning are still needed to avoid oil leakage. :D Regards Pierre

what size/type of motor/ESC etc. for conversion of 60 sized rigger to FE?

I would try to place the battery between the two sponsom stick. On the picture, there micht be to much weight on the strut. Regards Pierre

    New Hydro

Jim How do you calculate the weight needed on the strut ? Based on my experience,I have make a calculator based on rpm and prop diameter but I am not sure it is accurate : Strut weight should be equal to prop lift. This calculator does not take into account the real prop shape, eg a 1450 would...

    New Hydro

Yes Jim I agree, there is not enough weight with this sturt angle. On the video it is 2°. With 1°, the back of the rigger does not bump any more Weight on the prop can be adjusted between 0.8 to 1.2 kg (eg between 28 and 42 oz) depending on the lipo position. Regards Pierre
