    Howdy from central Texas!

Nice boats! I thought about going with an outboard set up on my DnF 40 too, to make it look like this: I would still like to do an outboard version, but I think I will build a lighter version of the DnF for that. Please keep us posted on your progress! Mike

1:8 SAW rules , Aronow UL Tunnelhull

I really like your idea, Christian! I had forgotten just how fast the offshore cats were running these days, it makes the idea of the Aronow as a scale unlimited SAW boat sound pretty viable. The Aronow was based on F1-type tunnel boats of that era, which are quite different to the more modern...

    Howdy from central Texas!

Howdy Frank, Managed to get a few pics of my old rigger. Doesn't look it now, but it was a real screamer back in the day! It is in the process of being sanded down to bare wood for a complete refinish, so it kind of looks like it has the mange. 😒 Like I said, I believe it to be a Spider, but...

You bet Frank. I'll try to get some pics this evening when I get home. Like I said, I think it's a Spider, based only on appearance. You may be able to help me with a proper I.D. Stripping off the three or so old paint jobs might also help!

    Northwind Style hull

I hope you'll pardon me jumping into the conversation to ask a dumb question, but I seem to remember that this type of delta flat bottom hull was banned for the mono classes years ago. The rules were changed to require a true V-hull with no flat bottoms or "ride pads" allowed, or something like...

Dumas Drag n' Fly 40 build/finish thread (With lots of questions!)

Hi all! I'm new to the forum, and like a few others I have seen here, I'm returning to the hobby after many moons. I appreciate you having me, and I hope you don't mind lots of questions! Back in the 80s I ran mostly hydros, riggers and sport, on nitro. And, like most nitro guys, I mostly...

    Howdy from central Texas!

Well, the three boats I'm planning to finish up were all left in various states of unfinish when they were put away. Two are old Dumas kits, a Drag n' Fly 40 hydro that is still in bare wood, and a 36" 1971 Atlas Van Lines which has been sealed and needs sanding and color. The third is my old...

1:8 SAW rules , Aronow UL Tunnelhull

I kind of figured that the outdrive issue wouldn't be a problem, especially considering the flex cable point that you mentioned. Reading through the rules you posted confirmed that. I am still very curious about the "only one motor allowed but must run the same number of props ruling" though. I...

1:8 SAW rules , Aronow UL Tunnelhull

I guess putting two props on the same shaft would come across as being a bit snarky... 🤪

    32" Wild Thing build thread

Beautiful craftsmanship Dirk! Looking forward to the rest of the build!

1:8 SAW rules , Aronow UL Tunnelhull

As I recall, the Aronow Unlimited ran with outdrives (stern drives) as opposed to shafts and rudders. Not sure if that would fall under the "original drive" clause or not...🤔

    Howdy from central Texas!

Hi y'all! My name is Mike and I'm in Temple Texas, which is about an hour's drive North of Austin and around two hours south of Dallas/Fort Worth. About square in the middle of the state. I really appreciate you having me here! I guess my story is somewhat typical after looking around here a...
