Steve, I assume you have your hand near the spark plug? Sometimes it's hard to see if there is a crack in the silicone spark plug cap or the secondary wire. Also, make sure the plug gap is correct. Electricity always goes thru the path of the least resistance. Marty

I built this and haven't been stumped yet. Fetches gas monos, cats, sports, and riggers. Even works with one upside down or retrieving a cowl. Just takes a little time to get used to maneuvering. Casting rod with a floating treble hook works great for the closer retrievals. Marty

Hmmm...2 stroke gas? Seems easy enough... I do use Klotz Super Tech so I think since it is a synthetic oil that would be okay but what about the 20% castor oil that is also in it? Since that is a plant based oil would that not attack the seals and rubber water tubing?

I've read in previous posts that any fluid used that is mineral based has a tendency to swell the seals and soften the water line tubing. Any of you guys that use that method have that experience? Seems like a reasonable process. Thanks

Hi John, Yes you can do it that way as long as you use the recoil cover spacer that comes in the kit. If you don't want to use the spacer ( I have hull clearance issues in my situation) you can remove the pawl boss as described above. Hope this helps... Marty
