DSM and races.. is it time?

Wow this thread was recommended to me. Glad I still have a login here! Been ages since I ventured beyond the Dock. My two cents, outlawing FM or PCM or even AM radios is not the solution. The guy who runs much will soon see how inferior that technology is compared to DSM. Now using the old...

    High mileage engine help needed

My son is attending school up in Indiana (Rose Hullman). As part of his extracuricular activities he is on the high mileage team. College teams compete to see how far they can make a gallon of gas stretch. They are using a Briggs and straton block and have it sleaved down and run a Yamaha chain...

    jim's rc boat dock

Yes the site was being upgraded on Sunday (security patches applied) when the update scripts ran afoul. We think it was some residue left over from the hacking episode we had about six months back. It took out the whole site as a result. Were now trying to load a fresh copy of the forum...

Moving Sale Everything Goes!!!!!!!! Prices Added

No witch hunt. He had two ID's and posted replies originating from his same IP address. This was in prior for sale pages to make his sale page look like it had a lot of interest. Does this seem like proper sales etiquette? Duplicate ID's is what he was removed for. He was not removed for the...

    Prop trust -

I found that the 1/4" square drive was a don't care in the mono running surface drive but did make a difference when I ran it in the rigger. The stub shaft provided a much smoother transition into the strut on the rigger and this was good for about 1-2MPH on the GPS. The larger solder on ferrule...

    How messy are gas engines?

Gas is clean but not spotless. The typical accpted ratio of gas to oil is in the 6-7 oz to one gallon of gas. Some oil residue will come out but no where near like in a nitro motor. Like a typical weed trimmer. Yes you can use rattle cans with gas but the finish will eventually be hard to...

    electronic ignition

OS already makes an electronic fuel injection for nitro motors. Look at the http://www.osengines.com/engines/osmg0662.html

    electronic ignition

I was assuming he was talking about a gas (2 cycle) motor.

    electronic ignition

Most guys that have tested them say the electronic ignitions don't buy us much for the boats. Mike Hoffmeister did some dyno work and found that the electronic units didn't improve performance any. If anything it hurt as they required a large battery and controller to ride along.
