Any suggestions? Lift and lock and Gershner come to mind. Would like to keep it lite and not have it come open in the back of my Silverado(short W.B. and 10 ply tires- rides like a buckboard).

Thanks,

Glenn

Well now I know why they offered free shipping and handling

I actually hated my PDY used it for 2 seasons and decommisioned it this year, its sitting on the floor of my shop. For me the box is too shallow and the drawer stops are flimsy and in fact one stop broke off so the drawer would slide out. Ended up buying the Dewalt T-stack drawer modular unit. I purchased these two units, the long handled top and the 2 drawer unit, a little pricey but really nice stuff. They clip together on the ends to make a single unit. There are about 4 different style modules, when I purchased them they were giving away Dewalt utility knives with each unit and free shipping.

Mmmm, Just checked price on Gerstner 352, Only $359.00. Have not had a lot of love for DeWalt lately but will give it a look.

Thank you Tony

Glenn,

Look at the wooden box at Harbor Freight. Was on sale for $79.99. It's looks like a gerstner machinist chest.

Can't beat it for the money. Made by Windsor Design. Stock #94538 8 drawer chest. I bought one it's great.

I do have a real Gerstner chest I paid $900.00 about 40 years ago.

Yeah I think you can even get it from home depot too like an online order and they ship to the store etc. http://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-TSTAK-I-66-lb-Lockable-Storage-Organizer-DWST17808/204404671 The only downside is they are heavier than a PDY but since its bigger with roller bearing slides and heavier plastics etc it makes sense. I love the idea that the 4 modules are all different and that you could configure it any way that you want. You can bring as many modules as you want, Google Dewalt Tstak and check the reviews and proces etc. very positive

Bummer that PDY is out of business. That was a short run for them. Nice to know that there are still a few available. Think I paid $40 shipped for it in 2007 from Cabela's.

I bought 2 lift and Lock tool boxes about 3 years ago and one of them arrived with a broken drawer and when I called the phone number listed, no one ever answered the phone. I finally threw the box in the trash. If you'd like the one I still have, you pay the shipping and it's yours. It's been sitting on the shelf for about 3 years. I never used it. Gerstner boxes are nice, but whoa are they expensive. For a 26 inch 10 drawer box, you're gonna pay $750.00 or more if you buy a new one.

You might want to check out the wood tool boxes at Grizzly.com. They have a really nice oak box (H7716) for $167.95 or a maple box (H7718) for $175.00.

I bought a nice looking oak box from a Chinese company at a tool show about 15 years ago and now it's starting to come apart.
