Today my old SG 21(built in 2000) equipped with a Picco 45 (nib motor) went to water for a breaking in..despite choppy conditions the tiny boat ran great until in the second tank suffer a blow over .....no injuries... The parabolic 45 pipe(at 8 3/4") is a great pipe for any 45 motor.....prop is a 1655 AB cup 4.1.... lot of fun!

Gill,

Try an 1860 on it and pull the trigger carefully.

Should be around 90+ MPH.

Nice vintage set up.

Thanks For Sharing,

Actually, Stan Simpson ran 97mph with a 1655 on his Picco 45 powered his 45 SG. His pipe was 8-1/4" long, so all Gil really has to do is start shortening the pipe. After that a 2160 gets you to 110mph.

Thanks guys and yes I still have my trusty 1024 PCM Futaba in this boat.Andy is dead on correct to say that shortening the pipe speed increase gradually with no changes and btw I have one 2160AB prop that will be tested as soon the engine is ready.Ray it was choopy but using a GOPRO it's hard to see waves.in the other side of the lake Anyway I love this boat and it's a pleasure to play with it .Thanks Gill

That was with no cowl and a full race turn fin 45 SG. Andy and my dad ran the same boat without fin and an H series prop that went 100+ "BUT" that was not a motor out of the box... still have the Stalker recorded speeds on a disk of all those runs. She was the fastest 45 rigger I have owned

Actually this boat has a full race turn fin 45 too and with my previous motor a modded Picco Black head used to run all day long in the low 90's.Yes with no fin and a H30 AB reduced it ran 103,,,,Thanks Gill

Sorry Gil I was not bashing your rigger...boat looks GREAT. I was just having a flashback in time when I raced my 45 SG. They made me look good...

Yes, the boat ran 106 mph with the old Picco 45 Blue head on just 60%/15% fuel and the 45 SG was a full weight race boat.

It's great to see some older SG's running. An old SG 67 just won the 2014 NAMBA Nats.

Ron Lauderdale has a FREAK 67SG...I think he got her from Buck Shot. Very nice setup....

Sorry Gil...not trying to hijack your thread.
