Well it took forever, but finally got her finished, and have to say am very pleased with the result. Hopefully will hit the water over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks to Mike Luszcz for getting me (and a whole olot of others) started with his laser cut kits, Mike Mcknight for awesome graphics and all those who I've never met, who have been answering my random questions via PMs , and everybody else who has contributed when asked.

Wow!!!, looks very nice. I remember seeing it on its trailer heading from Tri-Cities to Seattle in 1990 as I was heading to the nats in Olympia in 1990. One of my favourites!

Cheers guys, thanks for the feedback, it's my first attempt at building a scale, even though I've run a few and rebuilt and painted The Cellular One I currently run, this was the first I've built from the ground up. Needless to say many lessons have been learned and I suspect a few more are coming as well.

Dan will be in touch on those prop suggestions, thanks for your help along the way as well.

Brad here's one of the internals, If you think the tank looks small it is only 16 oz, I don't run any Nitro (yup just Methanol and Oil) so hopefully consumption won't be as high. If that doesn't work then it's off to Mr Barney for a custom job for that space. Radio box is aft of the engine and sits under the port deck. Plan C, is to put the tank under there and move the Radio box forward of the engine. I also have a sideways S bend in the stuffing tube, the jury's out how that will go, so Lot's of learning still coming.

CMB 67/80 muffled pipe with a muffler on the end ?, may want to just run a tube or coupler out the transom.

Boat looks great.
Cheers Joe, the muffler is a case of having to. We run an 87db noise limit here in New Zealand, and the silenced CMB pipes just don't quite do the business in achieveing the noise limit. PIA!.

Nice job, Bob - neat and clean.

Tip muffler looks like it may be from Rum Racing??? Will also reduce noise with Scotch Brite pad cut to fit around inner screened spool, even packed with fiberglass insulation works, but becomes a PIA to remove/replace.

How large is the tank? I just started running Greenie - 20 oz. of 50% launched at start time makes it of Pit makes it. I had plenty left at this weekends race - Flew it one round, and stuffed it in another. New boat blues !!! Har, Har !!! CHEERS !!! Bob

It's only 16 ounces, I just run Methanol and oil, so I'm hoping it's enough. If not I'll be splashing out on a custom tank.

Hey Bob,

Roger that. I would think 16 oz would be more than enough running 80/20 "Cough Syrup" as we used to call it flying FAI speed class. I would be curious what run times you see. Should be an interesting data point. CHEERS !!! Bob

Hi Bob

My current scale Cellular One, runs a 16 oz tank on an older 67 purple head evo engine and goes through about 2/3 of the tank for a 2.5 minute mill and 5 lap heat race. I'm expecting the greenie to use more. I'm GENERALLY seeing better reliability from the cough syrup than the guys running nitro especially the higher blends like 50%. We have a small enough field of boats here in NZ that you can still get more places with a reliable boat than a fast boat. That of course does change oevr time as faster boats learn how to become more reliable. :)

Hey Bob,

That is true anywhere my Friend. I have been working with a new Scale boat this year. It is fast, but definitely lacks reliability, or even "repeat" ability for that matter. In three heats in Evansville last weekend, the hull had a second place finish, loaded up and quit coming to the start, and tried to drive - submerged - to NZ displaying a submarine diving ability. I'm not sure this boat knows what it is yet. I'm just hanging around with it to see what happens next. I have an old 8255 U-55 Oberto resting in the wings. If my Houston continues to frustrate me - - it may find itself resting while Oberto races. The Oberto is 12 years old and doesn't do anything goofy - - - usually. The Houston so far has been Goofy's name sake. Considerably lighter than the Oberto, and a blast to drive fast.

I was introduced to a 1/8th Scale hull owned by Ken Hildreth that really wanted to be an E/F Hydro - - and raced that class, in addition to Scale. Raised havoc with the riggers - Har, Har !!!

Good luck with the green head. You're gonna really like it. In a different time zone than the EVO, and will throw a lot more prop. I'm running a Prather Stainless 255 at the moment. It seems to like that prop the best so far. My Buddy runs an X 460/2, but my Houston is much more light than his Coors. The Coors has been battling for about 7 years, mine just decided to come out to play.

We'll look forward to seeing how she runs. I'm sending our summer time your direction. I'm looking forward to Fall, Mate. Houston in the summertime is barely tolerable. CHEERS !!! Bob
