Hi all i have a O.S lower unit set-up with A Q 2030 KV brushless motor on 4S swinging a X442 prop every 3-4 runs i re-grease the flexshaft with Mercury 2-4-C grease . I have about 12 runs on the flexshaft i noticed on inspecting the shaft that in 4 places i noticed about a 1/64'' separation in the strands . Is this normal wear ? These are the Lawless strong arm flex shafts. Regards Andris Golts.

What do you mean by separation? If a strand is broken, that's bad. If there is a little space between strands, that's OK. The picture shows a shaft with a large separation due to a wire break at the top with smaller separations as you go down the shaft.

Oil them every couple of runs with outboard gear oil.

Sometimes they break a strand sometimes they last forever
