Well I am going to try to convert my 7.5 Hawk to run electric but I have some concerns. I got some great info from another member but I guess I just wanted to make sure I am on the right path before I waste my time and hull for this project.
My first problem is going to be the CG. With everything in the hull in about the places where they will finally be the CG is about 3" behind the sponsons. I was told that this will be fine and in fact there are nitro riggers that are build like that.
My second concern is that there is no way I can mount my motor on a angle SO I will have to mount it straight and make a S bend in my stuffing tube. For years I have read that this is no good and others have said that it is better this way. I am going to have the motor pretty far back in the hull so I need to know how tight of a S bend I can make without running into problems?
Last thing is what is the best way to mount the sponson tubes in the hull. THey are full carbon rod so I am guessing I will just drill through them and screw them down to the wood in the hull. I also have to seal the tube where the sponson tubes are adjustable so I guess I will just get the AOA set at where I ma guessing it should be and then silicone the openings shut. I could always remove the silicone to make adjustments later. Am I on the right track or do you rigger experts have better idea's?
Thanks in advance.
