On mine it wasn't needed. The exhaust port in the case was already larger than the one in the sleeve.

you know,.. I can't remember exactly. I don't have it anymore. Rod G. gave me the initial start point on what thickness to add.
For some reason .020 comes to mind. Remember, you have to take whatever you put under the sleeve off of the head button to get keep the compression where you want it.
That engine will run very well after you do this. Run 50%, I didn't have luck running higher,.. too tough to needle.
