I practiced with my 60 Roadrunner (67 Picco) and everything works fine EXCEPT it dies as soon as the first tank empties. (it did this three times today - tune up day)

The plumbing goes like this:

tuned pipe to upper vent in outside (left) tank,

rear bottom left of outside tank to,

upper vent in inside (right) tank,

rear bottom left of inside tank to,

fuel filter to,

remote mixture needle to,

carburator.

Do I have the tanks reversed (should inside tank empty first)?

Driver's meeting at 8:30 in the morning after 30 minutes of open water - HELP!

Hello Clint : standing at the back of the boat and looking forward, the pipe pressure line should go into the r/h tank, the fuel pickup should go in and down to the back left of the r/h tank. the fuel pickup then should go to the vent on the l/h tank and the fuel pick up in the L/h should go down in the L/h back corner. from there your fuel line goes to your remote needle if you are running one , and then onto the carb. , Inside tank should empty first. Good luck. Geoff Overell.

Sorry I couldn't help sooner.

Try this,

Plumbing Diagram

Only thing that is missing in the diagram is the needle valve and that will go between the hopper tank and the carb.

Another good tip is to update to 5/32 " tubing instead of 1/8 " . On a 90 Roadrunner I had the tanks transferring fuel via double tubes from one tank to the other .

My 67 Roadrunner runs plastic tanks with no issues . Good luck .

I had the same thing happen. You can try a larger cross over line as suggested or and a second line in the locations provided in the stoppers. Your problem should go away. I would keep the tanks the way you have them so that the inside tank empties last.
