The Atlanta Model Boaters are proud to host the 40th Annual Spring Nationals on April 21st and 22nd, 2018. AMB member Mike Whitley attended the inaugural event in 1978 (and has a trophy to prove it). 40 years is an extremely long time for a club and an event to survive. We would like to cordially invite all our boating friends and family to come and help us celebrate this important milestone! We will be serving anniversary cake to all in attendance to help celebrate the BIG 4-0! We are also working on a few other surprises to help commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the event.

The number of available entries in each class will be adjusted based upon demand. We run this event on a "first come - first served" basis, so if you want your class to make... please enter NOW! As classes begin to fill in, we will open up additional slots until we hit the 168 heat cap. Once we reach the heat cap NO additional slots will be opened up. Classes without 3 boats entered by 3/13/18 will be scratched and those slots will be used to open up additional heats in the more popular classes.

We are offering a nice mix of Nitro, Gas, & Electric classes (something for EVERYONE). We appreciate the continued support of our event and look forward to seeing you at the pond on April 21st & 22nd, 2018!

Enter via www.RCRacingEvents.com

Thanks,
Lamar

I/we would love to make the race...just cant believe you guy's can not have open water for just the week of the race. I mean it is only 1 of 52 wks out of a year. THAT IS WHAT is killing turn out,you guys have one of the top 3 sites anywhere by far. JMO You use to have one of the biggest races of the year as far as people from around the world. Now it is just a picnic get together, and that is great. I just do not get it,I was there when you had over 20 TWIN's alone show up. That is what people came to see...now burger's and 3 round's of racing. I am not bashing the NEW FORMAT,some people are just content some times I guess. A lot of great memories from that site for me and I am sure for the Majority of RC Boater's. Yes time has a way of changing things we cannot control. Keeping my fingers crossed for you guy's.

Hey Stan, Afternoon.

Where are you reading/seeing this "NEW FORMAT" information and 3 rounds of racing? I just had to go back to RC Racing events and look over the info again. I'm seeing 4 rounds/class weather permitting.

Are you sure you are not confusing the Grand Prix Series with the Spring Nat's?

Not sure about the last couple of years as I have not been able to attend the race. So I can't say weather they have been running 3 or 4 rounds

I know for a few years prior to that, Doug & I took SERIOUS heat (from contestants) for pushing "TOO" hard to get the 4 rounds in.

Now,,, As far as the open water debate! There is really nothing AMB can do about that (((((PERIOD))))) There is a new (within the last 5 years) land owner across the lake. And EVERY TIME someone hits the lake during the week for testing prior to 5PM Naturally Fresh Foods get's a phone call, them Lamar gets a phone call. Atlanta Model Boaters and us are VERY luck to still have this pond to run at.

Sorry to fire back at you like this Stan, but your post hit me the wrong way!

I am no longer an AMB member,,, but I can tell you. I have been an ACTIVE member of, lets just say a FEW model boat clubs over my 30 years of model boating.

And I can say, my time with the AMB club has to be the best experience being a member of a club. It was and I'm sure still is the best organized and equitably run club I have been associated with.

We'll see you next weekend "at the pond"

Rick

Sucks when you have new owners that won't cooperate. Hate to see clubs deal with that. Our club is dealing with that with the water level. Good Luck.

We can't believe it either Stan, but it is... what it is... We don't like it any more than you guys do. We have jumped through hoops over the years just to maintain use of the pond and to continue putting on races in any format at all. I won't go into a detailed history of events, but it certainly hasn't been fun. When you are using a site for free, you don't have a tremendous amount of leverage in negotiations with the owner.

The current race format includes open water on Friday (noon to dark for electrics and 5PM till dark for internal combustion engines). We know this is less than ideal, but these are the hours we were given to work with. It's comply with the requests of the land owner or fold up the tents and go home. We choose to do the best we can given the circumstances we have to work with. There will be 4 rounds of racing this year (weather permitting) and yes, we may very well serve burgers and dogs to our guests.

For those racers who do plan to attend we look forward to seeing you very soon! The first heat will be on the clock before you know it!

Yes, when Naturally Fresh was acquired a few years ago we lost our strongest internal champion during the restructuring.

Hope your water level gets back to normal soon!

Hey Gang,

Additional slots have been opened up in a few classes that SOLD OUT early!

If you plan on racing in this event please do not procrastinate. Classes with no entries will be DROPPED to make room for additional heats of the more popular classes (and additional class offerings that have been requested by those who have already entered).

We appreciate all those who have supported this event over the years and we look forward to seeing you at the pond very soon!

Thanks,
Lamar

Brad,

Why are you not running scale?
I wont have the wooden Circus Canard Painted and finished in time. Last year I brought the fiberglass one but I am going back to our original wooden one Dad ran from the start. Also I am trying to get it where I only bring my truck and not have to pull the trailer down.

I appreciate it, if they decide not to no worries :)
The electric guys said "BRING IT"... They are fine w/ you running your Sport 20 in P Sport Hydro (not P-Limited Sport Hydro). Rumor has it the fastest P Sport Hydro in the country will be there, so you better have that needle dialed in!

Hey Gang,

We have reached the 168 heat cap for the event. The slots currently showing on the www.RCRacingEvents website are the only slots we have available. A couple of classes with no entries were dropped earlier this morning and we added Open Mono and Open Hydro. There are a couple of additional classes in danger of not making the cut:

- D Mono = Only 2 entries so far
- F Hydro = Only 1 entry so far
- F Mono = Only 2 entries so far
- Open Tunnel = Only 1 entry so far

If these classes do not reach the 3 boat minimum by 3/13/18 they will be scratched and those slots will be given to SOLD OUT classes. So... If you are entered in any of the classes above phone a friend and tell them to get entered ASAP!

This is shaping up to be a FANTASTIC event!

Thanks,
Lamar

Tyler,

Open Hydro will probably fill up pretty fast...

I'll go ahead and put you in there now and we will cross the F-Hydro bridge when we come to it.

Thanks,

Lamar
