Hello-

Starting to plan a paint job on an outrigger. Have used spray gun/ compressor set-ups with

PPG Deltron base coat/clear coat years back, but don't want to get into all of that hassle and

health hazard stuff now.

Hydro will be sealed with finishing resin, and we'll block it down good and set up finish quality

with a primer/surfacer.

Want to use aerosol cans. We really like that Duplicolor ceramic engine paint and have had

very good results with it on Lawn Boy lawnmowers. Just important to follow the flash time

intervals and temp recommendations. Stuff levels great. Gasoline, Klotz, Seafoam have no

effect on it once completely dry.

Would let the stuff dry well, making sure the solvents gas out good before clearing.

I guess my question, or questions, are- does anyone know if that ceramic engine paint is

methanol/nitro proof, and can I prep the finish surface and apply 2K Glamour Hi Gloss 2 part

clear over it, and graphics, leaving a methanol/ nitro proof finish?....

Not sure if we'll be air brushing or making stick on graphics with thin, clear glossy vinyl/ polyester

substrate.

Any direction and guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Regards-

Tim

You can get house of colors in a spray can at TCP. Almost went that way myself. They do package other paint in spray cans also if you want the fancy colors

Yeah, Mark, we saw that... BUT!... did you note the price of that HOK aerosol???...

Too rich for my blood, we're more into form follows function.

Thanks-

Endura is like a plastic. Nitro, brake fluid, acetone and lacquer thinner will not touch it!!

Brad
Yeah, we've been researching around on the Endura 2K's. They do not have good reviews over

on the hot rod custom paint forums- adhesion, colorfast, and gloss retention over time seem to

be the complaints.

Think we'll stick with the Duplicolor ceramic engine paints topped with Spray Max 2K Glamour

High Gloss Clear. $18/can, 24 hr. pot life, 10 min re-coat window.

Thanks-

Tim
