OK racers, now that the IMPBA NItro Internats has concluded, the Fall Nationals hosted by the Charleston Model Boaters, Oct 10-12, will be opening up for registration in 2 phases. Carefully review ALL race details as noted on rcracingevents. It is your responsibility to ensure knowledge and compliance with the race rules. The registration phases are as follows:

Phase 1

For race CD's and CMB members ONLY, the race will be open on Thursday, June 26th, from 9 am to 7 pm, EDT. We have a group of very competent CD's that have agreed to serve and they will be entering early to ensure we get the best CD team in place for the race. If I have not contacted you by e mail in the past week, you will have to wait until phase 2. If you enter in this phase and are not eligible for entering, your registration will be deleted immediately.

Phase 2

For any that are not included in the phase 1 group, registration will be open up on Monday, June 30th, starting at 7 PM, EDT. To register, follow the details as noted:

1. There is a 6 class limit for all racers so carefully choose your classes.

2. Paypal payment (credit card can be used through Paypal) is MANDATORY to register, no exceptions.

3. There is a 225 boat initial limit in place. When we get to it I will shut down all classes and open up those which has a heat that is not full. When that is completed we will have over 325 boats.

4. Every class has either 1, 2 or 3 heats allocated per round. That allocation was based upon the past 3 Fall Nats races. Adjustments to classes will be made on the fly as needed.

5. If you cannot get into a class or the race, get on the wait list immediately. E mail requests ONLY will be accepted. No PMs through this site or Jim's Boat Dock or phone calls will be accepted. In past years almost all wait list requests were met by race time. E mail me at [email protected] to get on the list asap. The list is compiled by the receive date and time stamp and I strictly adhere to them.

6. When you try and get onto the registration website - rcracingevents, click on the "online race entry" ONCE and ONLY ONCE. Do NOT continue to hit refresh. Due to the heavy interest in the race last year, you guys continued to hit refresh and the system shut down. There were over 8,000 requests to get in the first 45 minutes. When Bill cleared out all of the pending requests, the site started working. Bill has upgraded the server and software to improve performance. But please follow the directions given so we do not repeat what happened last year. We appreciate the intense interest in this race and no race has this much attention or desire to attend. It is an honor to host the race.

If you can come and know you can then please enter. If you are entering with the hope to come, I am asking you to consider getting on the wait list instead. The past 3 races there has been about 10 or so racers that did this and ended up bailing out in the prior 2 weeks to the race. This makes us and replacement racers scramble to get in, take time off of work, get motel reservations, etc. It also does not allow racers that have entered to change classes to get a slot they wanted but the class was closed and sold out. Just think about it and be considerate.

One last thing. In each of the last 3 races, there have been about 6 racers that were no shows. No e mails, no phone calls, etc., nothing. Absolutely do not do this as it keeps other racers from getting into the race or adjusting classes. Notify me asap if you cannot come. You would not like this to happen to you so do not do it to anyone else.

John

Just a note on Charleston lodging. Every year I wait too long and all the inexpensive rooms are gone. Last spring I looked at vacation rental condo's in the Folly Beach area. About 3 miles longer drive than going to the Lands Inn. Anyway we booked a 3br, 3 bath condo for $250 a night after all fee's and taxes. A bit pricey but we had separate bedrooms and baths. A full living room, kitchen with all the amenaties, washer/dryer, dinning room and screened in patio with a grill. Nice to be able to clean up after the race and not wait for one bathroom. later you could sleep quietly in your own room or gather in the living room. Get up early and not bother each other. We cooked most meals after a grocery run and saved on dinning out. Split 3 ways $75 a night and worth the extra few bucks. Next time I won't pack as many changes of clothes and nice not to drag a big bag of sweaty clothes home.

Booked and paid online and received the front door lock code via email 2 days before we arrived. Called the rental office before I booked to make sure real people were there just in case of snafoos.

The race registration went exceptionally well last evening. Outstanding work from all racers in following the plan and it worked like a well oiled machine. No system problems at all and that is good news. The second bit of good news is that the race hit the initial sold out mark of 225 entries in 1 hour and 18 minutes, a new record. I adjusted the class size and limits as needed to match up with the heat max for the race. The race registration will remain open to fill in those classes that do not have full heats. As that happens each class will be closed and wait lists will be built for them as needed.

Many thanks for the outstanding support and keep the entries coming in.

The entries continue to come in for the heats that are not full. A number of classes are now sold out. I cannot add any additional heats for any classes as we are at the race limit for heats. Wait lists are being created now.

Well done for all racers interested in this race. Another stellar event coming up. Thanks to all.

Guys,

The motel info is noted on post #1 as an attachment. The Lands Inn will give a discount when registering if you mention you are part of the CMB boat race group. The other local motels (most are brand hotel/motel chains) want a guarantee of a certain number of rooms (generally 25+) before they will commit to any discounts. Any less than that they will charge the CMB club for them and that is not possible.

The CMB Club has decided to host a evening meal on Saturday evening, Oct 11th, at the lake. CMB member and site owner Joe Tumbleston is going to roast a large pig for some excellent southern BBQ for all that are attending the race. Donations will be asked to defray the cost but the meal will be the CMB clubs thanks for all that have decided to attend this race.

There are some openings in a number of classes remaining. I will keep the race open for any late registrations that will be made for a bit longer. I still have a wait list for 8 classes but the remaining ones have some openings available.

Guys,

The race registration will be closing next week. If you want to come or on the fence, please try to get things lined up to attend if possible.

Guys,

I will be closing down the race for entries on Thursday evening, October 2nd. Need to start working on the heats and the other administrative details. If you want to come to race and join in the party, please enter by then.

I have added one more heat of Open Tunnel to the race. There are 2 slots now available if desired. Looking at two 6 boat heats but could go to 7 if the interest is there.
