Can I put the pressure port anywhere in the pipe ? I've been told to put it at the largest portion of the pipe but I have gotten used pipes with the port four inches or so from header end, does it matter ?pressure is pressure right?

It would make sense that the largest part of the pipe would have the highest pressure since you have the exhaust wave headed out from the header and the return wave from the convergent cone both hitting this area with an almost continuous pressure. To go very far away from that area would give less of one or the other, in theory at least

Back years ago Ernie LaFleur would pressure tap the header coming off the case. US1, it was a .21 outboard, but it worked for him. What they said works for me on pipe.

One finger width (about 1/2") in front of the widest part of the pipe (the weld)
