I've wanted to build one of Mike's 1/8th scales for a long time now and I was wondering if the 75$ was worth it for the Newton plans?
Sorry to hear you were disappointed that much to throw the kit away. The air traps are removed on the 108 and 109 as they have proven to perform excellent without them. Some of the best running scales our there right now, and consistently winning scales are coming from the 108 and 109 kits. I think throwing the kit away was really extreme. I am not sure we talked about the issues you had, but adding air traps back should have been a very easy task, and adjusting the bow block I would think is another easier addition vs starting over from scratch. Anyways, sorry to hear about the trouble I have caused you.I would recommend getting a set of plans. I ordered a ML boat kit 1/8 Lincoln Thrift and it was way off. The air trap was not even close for starters. Unfortunately I had already started gluing and assembling on the jig before I got the plans. So needless to say it came off the jig and found its way to the garbage can. ML boat kits are great, but it wasn't what I needed for a Scale hydro. So i got some wood and cut out from a set of plans.
Amen.Good to see your passionate love for all you say but Im sure nobody cares for museum details actually, just a reliable good running race boat is what is all about .
