Think the piston would rock and jam on the upstroke. Just a guess.

What Ray said. I have to think that the people who designed and built this engine are a bit smarter than most of us on this forum. It's obviously there for a purpose.

Samuel, I guess I don't see what you guys are looking other than the additional port on the new sleeve. Your picture does show some slag in the ports that should be cleaned up.

Sam,

If you want your 45-VAC to come alive, just replace the: piston, sleeve, and head button

with the new ones from the CMB V-5 motor. I think you will like the upgrade.

By the way the porting is pretty good in the stock configuration on the 45-VAC.

We had it in the 80's this week on a Stalker Pro with the 2215 with 17 degrees of Rake.

Thanks For Reading,

Sam,

The web on the exhaust is for piston support. On the VAC cases, you will want to use an 1/8" rat tail file to open the case for these small ports. Protect the bearings or pull them out when doing this.

interesting, so have you actually experimented with replacing the CMB V-5 parts (piston/sleeve & head-button) onto a CMB 45VAC, Mark?

so you're saying: grind-open round notches on left & right side of the internal exhaust port to match the small additional port-hole's, to allow exhaust to exit?
