Some probably know this but I have found a way to save money on shipping. Goto a bike shop or to goto the alley behind it and grab one of the boxes they throw out or they will give to you. pack it up, goto BikeFlights.com and guaranteed cheapest rates I have seen.

I can send a boat packed up in a 48x28x10 from Indy to Cali at 10 pounds for $43 4 day ground

Did the same dimensions and just through ups who would be carrying it anyways was $64 so $21 cheaper to go through https://www.bikeflights.com

Fed ex was 72$. Just some food for thought

I have found that USPS is cheaper than UPS or FedEx. I have also found that their online shipping calculator ALWAYS gives a higher price than physically going to the post office with the box, or even just the measurements & weight. I have to go there tomorrow Bradley, can you give me the two zip codes (to/from) so I can compare? Always looking to save a buck (-;

USPS makes it imposable to file a claim on a damaged boat so forget the insurance. Better yet forget the USPS.

Brad check the rates if you ship from work. I used to get better Fed X and UPS rates if I shipped from a business to a business than to and from a home address. I don’t know if that is still true, I haven’t shipped big anything in years.

Glenn, I will say I have been lucky with USPS. I have never had to file a claim with them shipping to & receiving stuff from all over the globe. I have heard that before, just haven't had to try to file a claim.

That is still true.

Yes Don that is how I priced it out, Business to Business. It might not benefit some but for me it did, and also you now have another source to find boxes. Which again some probably already get boxes from Bike shops.

Well that didn't work out. The post office can't do zip code to zip code unless it's leaving from the zip code they're located in. Otherwise, I need actual address's. Online, they only will show priority at $139 !!! The online calculator will not allow me to see all the options for less expensive shipping, & that's why I just go to the post office. Well, that & 3 other reasons - it's rural & never busy, it's only about 3 miles away & the post lady loves my Pomeranian Sebastian & keeps treats there for him (-;

Due to poor timing on getting some info in an email, I need to go back tomorrow. I'll check again, Sebastian will be happy.
