If you have ANY interest in full scale outboards & Mercury history, go to screamandfly.com & check out the thread "mercury through the years" in the outboard and racing history forum. You do not need to be a member to view the pics.

I'm glad I am lucky enough to have two really nice examples of the 1996 2.5 Litre 260 HP engines !

The interesting part about that thread is that nobody seems to know who this Fujimo is! There is a lot of Mercury factory employees, program managers, race drivers, engineers, race team managers & folks that worked at Lake X on s&f, none of them can seem to identify him. The access he had to Mercury is phenomenal, to remain unknown is amazing. Almost 100 pages in just over a month, 95% of them just pics & still going strong. Fujimo **** sure seems to have a warehouse full of pics he's scanning.

Had to have been a photog that they paid no mind too - how else do you explain having access to all those pics and some no one has ever seen .

Could be, Drew. But, he seems to have a lot of "inside" info, both corporate & technical - more than a photographer would have access to, IMHO. Plus, on in the thread, he thanks "Bernie" for getting a lot of the pics out of Mercury when Bernie retired. Bernie claims no knowledge of the pics or who Fujimo is......it would be neat to know his true identity, but I can be happy with what he has taken the time to scan from film & post for us to enjoy. No small undertaking!

WOW! That guy has spent a BUNCH of time with the pics.

Back in 74-76 I worked at Bay Marine in Monterey Ca.

One of Merc's factory drivers Rick Magretto used to come in all the time.

We had many talks over lunch bout Mercabo and Lake X.

No mention of anyone named Fujimo....But could be a screen name of a insider.

Cool stuff fer sure,

Gene

I plan on saving this thread completely.

He was in a tech or factory rep position of some sort, I have to believe on a corporate level not regional. In another thread where a customer is having issues with his 2015 350 Verado & Mercury seems to be stumped by it. The guy is complaining that he wants the engine replaced after 5 1/2 months of no satisfaction, with no luck. Fujimo is puzzled & he states "Agreed. It only takes one phone call by a competent dealer or OEM & the engine is replaced pronto by Mercury. As Joey stated, I have done this with ease, more times than I can remember."

3 more pages so far, just this morning! He must have bought an industrial grade scanner. It was just a couple months back Fujimo mentioned that he had a lot of pics & he needed to buy a scanner. **** sure put it in high gear, when he got one (-; Rough guesstimate - S&F allows 15 post per page x 105 pages ( say 10 pics each page, to allow for comments) = 1050 pics so far!! In reality, that's probably a low estimate.
