Anyone know who makes this? If it is unclear, I'm referring to the piece of plastic that you screw to your outboard that holds the throttle cable housing so that when you turn the outboard, it does not open or close your carb.

I don't know if any one manufactures such a device. The one shown in the photo is custom made & it does prevent any change in the throttle setting when the power head is turned.

OS make a Moulded cable holder that screws to the engine.

Randell,Joe at 707 Specialties makes the best throttle canle holders I have ever used. They are aluminum and available for different engine angles as well as throttle cable sizes.

Thanks! I'll order one today, I'm sure their quality far surpasses that of the plastic O.S.
 
wow jim, I looked at that cable setup for a couple of minutes and then finally figured out how it works!. I have seen a lot of setups but yours is a work of art, nicely done
 
Ron, your right after installing both the O.S. and the 707 specialties one, the 707 is worlds better because it holds the cable in a better position and is much more rock solid. Thanks for the info, great find!

Joe makes some good stuff. I've been buying 707 stuff for about 25 years now. I had two packages from 707 come in just this past week. I keep telling Joe to come over here and race with us sometime and that we had some great looking second place trophies that he could take back home with him. LOL

The reason it works extremely well is because the movement of the throttle cable is parallel to the axis of the pivot pin. Also notice that the PTO's pivot mounting bracket has been replaced with a brass bushed piece, with a grease fitting & machined teflon thrust washers. There is no play at the pivot point! The prop shaft & it's bushing have also been re- machined to eliminate any play. A grease fitting is used to lubricate the cable & it's hard brass stuffing tube.

The entire PTO pivot bracket can be adjusted up & down, without loss of the thrust angle. It is mounted in a machined piece that is permantly mounted to the hull. This modification assures that the PTO alignment cannot change during thrust & depth changes.
