-LSG OUTBOARD TUNNEL GUYS,

Looks like we are finally making some progress with the LSG Outboard Tunnels. The proposed class rules were brought to the IMPBA board meeting and we were granted a 1 year trial for the class. The trial year will begin January 1st of 2018. After the trial year is over, they will review the entries over the trial year period and if the class looks as if it is stable or growing, these boats will be instated as an official class. Once this happens these boats will be eligible to run for straight line and oval records in the IMPBA.

Below is a copy of the rules as they will be for the one year trial period. I hope that this class will take off. I know you guys have wanted this for eight or nine years now AND HERE IS YOUR CHANCE TO KICK IT OFF! You guys will have to really show up in 2018 with all of these boats to make this happen.

A special thanks to Paul Traufer for bringing a voice to this issue and making it happen!

Wow. Great news Carl. This is what the gas tunnel guys were waiting on. Now they have to dust them off and get them to the races. Thanks for taking on this project and thanks also to Paul for being our voice at the board meeting!!!!

Guys I may have pushed the effort through but it was Rick Grim (and others) that wrote it up and "bent my ear" on doing this. In the end I calling it a team effort to make it happen, now we need to see these boats at events to show there is a real interest in this class. Thanks guys!

Paul

Thanks for the update Paul. And thanks to Rick and the others for their help as well. You know, I did not realize until the race in Huntsville, that both Rick and Mark Grim were such avid tunnel boaters. They will be a huge asset in helping all of us grow the tunnel classes back to a point where they used to be, including the stock classes.

Okay, I talked to Rick Grimm and he told me that you were the one to thank for getting it pushed through. My only contribution to this effort was writing up the rules and getting them sent to Doug Smock. I guess what I should do now is thank everybody who did help because obviously I am unaware who all was involved and I didn't mean to leave anyone out.

Okay, Let's get the ball rolling here. If you have an LSG Outboard Tunnel, get on here and tell us. If you are having issues there are people that may be able to help you. Let's get these boats entered and get some LSG Tunnels racing!

You are right Don...I am finding this out! LOL I'm a little worried about Mark Grimm racing one of these LSG Tunnels because I have seen his other gas stuff run. I think he could set one on fire with some of the engines he has brought to the pond lately.

It's about time, 10 years strong, we can't wait! The work and advancement in this class is finally being rewarded, hope to see more of you all at the pond soon!

It has bin along time , can't wait to see these boats racing everywhere and in the record books.

Do the minimum over all and maximum over all lengths include the distance to the prop or is this for the hull only?

Hey guys Carl is mostly right. I worked with Carl when the proposal came in and we tweaked a few things to get it to read as it is now. The class was approved by the BOD for a 1 year trial, This is the time to make sure we didn't miss anything in the rule. After the 1 year trial is up, the rule will go out to membership for a vote. If passed by the membership it will then be an official class.

Do the minimum over all and maximum over all lengths include the distance to the prop or is this for the hull only?
The Max and Min lengths are intended to regulate the hull size only. We will make sure that the rules specifies "hull length" for the Max and Min when the time for the final edition comes.

Thanks,

-Carl
