A couple days ago I decided to buy this new weird looking outboard, and I got to say this is one of the best purchases I've ever made. This is the first outboard of its kind: It comes with built in power steering and a built in ESC, and you just need to pop your receiver into its waterproof enclosure. It's the only outboard that is entirely self contained, and it's easily installed onto another boat by simply unclamping the transom bracket and re-clamping it. The build quality seems very good on it, as you'd expect since it's made in the USA. I got to looking and every little detail on this outboard is really well thought out. Not for IMPBA racing of course, but this thing could save so many leisure boaters so much time and money. Something this cost effective, simple, and complete is something everyone needs to know about!

Here is the website: http://radiocontroloutboards.com/pages/syncro30.html

Or you know for that scale model Boston Whaler you built:

I'm thinking of maybe putting mine on an Aeronaut Spitfire. And Grim, it's definitely not made to set records, but where else can you find an outboard where you can just clamp it onto another boat with the need of servos, pushrods, an ESC, etc

Yeah this boat appears to actually have saved it from drowning! Look at 1:07 in the video when the bug splashes onto the boat

I've been running this unit for quite a while now, and I got to say it surpasses expectations. With a 4000mAh battery it will run for well over an hour at full throttle. It's so convenient to just pop onto any boat. The person who makes it literally sent me a homemade boat for free to put it on and gave me materials to build one myself. They said they were going to start making retrieval boats as well. I would highly recommend the Syncro30 to anyone, it really is a big leap forward for outboards. I made a review video but the it's too large to attach here. Any idea how I can share it on this site?

You could upload it to youtube - then use the share option and copy and paste it here.

Was re-watching the little whaler again and the same guy has a twin center console boat as well- lol.-it pretty cool.

Finally made a vid for youtube- quality of the camerawork and my review is lacking but hopefully it will get some information across. It should be noted I was not using full throttle and was running 2S instead of 3S. Didn't want to bother videoing it from the local pond when I have a convenient pool in my back yard. I have to say it has more than lived up to expectations. I'm an outboard guy, so if it were up to me this would be the official power for retrieval boats in the IMPBA/NAMBA (and retrieval boat plans will supposedly be available on the manufacturers website soon). Anyhow here's the vid:

Any questions feel free to ask!

Thanks! Maybe I can make a vid running it full speed in a larger pond, or even on 3S lipo. I set the motor up a little better, it's running very well!

*UPDATE*

The radio control outboard website has a boats page and plans to build what is by far the most effective retrieval boat I have ever used. Even if you don't want to spend the money on the outboard unit I would take a serious look at the plans. Wish I could show a picture of the one I built but I'll be over 1000 miles away from it for a couple months.

Also you can buy a wooden boat kit off the website, which I did (see pic below). I haven't started assembly yet but it appears to be very good quality and the instructions are ridiculously thorough (something I find rare in the world of RC boating).

With regards to the boat I took the video of, I packed it in my backpack and flew up north with it (try that with any other rc boat of that size!). It has probably close to 70 hrs on it now (yes I run this thing A LOT) and hasn't had a single issue. In fact the outboard unit has been a workhorse in retrieving my hopefully-to-be-record-setting JAE outboard hydro. The more I use it, the more I like it. I'm enamored with how innovative and easy to use this outboard is. Pop it onto the retrieval boat when I need it, pop it onto the skiff when I want something a bit more exciting
