Adding more bearings and moving parts would probably rob it of power.

I recall MANY years ago a topic like this, in the end the bottom line was for small engines < .21 the crank induction was the best. The gray area was the .21 to .28, as we have seen there is more that one way to get there...

I think it is time to rethink things a little more possibly?
The 21-DD is working quite well. If a new case design
was used it would be a great motor. They just need
to incorporate a Zimmerman valve induction and keep
the price under $500.00 USD. The whole DD-lineup
would be better if they did this?

There are ALWAYS different paths to take, options and what not. If the .12 class was raging there would be more efforts put in this. There is a pretty good interest in the .12, but compared to the .21 class it is tiny. (Well at least around my area.) Mind you we have some SUPER fast .12 run here!
