Just curious what good deals are out there for brand-new depth gauge, or depth micrometer (I prefer a digital read-out)? Primarily for checking/setting head clearance

Thanks,

Dave

I would like to find a height gauge that is inexpensive but of average quality. I will only use it for top of liner to top of piston measurements with my Engine Analysis Program.

I want a digital one....

I had a suggestion in my instructions for a company that we have used in the past but they didn't have it last time I checked.

This is the info that I have in my instructions:

Precision Industrial Tool & Supply, Inc. (800-433-7487) for $149.00 (as of 10/2006). It is a 12" model #EHG-605

This company doesn't list it anymore but I did find it someplace else. http://www.pitstool2.com/product/EHG-605/PRECISION-12-ELECTRONIC-DOUBLE-BEAM-HEIGHT-GAGE.html

for $195 which not to bad an increase from 2006.

Marty,

Try "MSC direct". They have a variety, different brands and different sizes. From cheap to top of the line.

DAVE i RECENTLY DROPED MY 28 YEAR OLD DEPTH GUAGE, RUINED the MECH, so I built 2 new one's, I gathered up the parts I needed and built 2 new one's, 1 analog. and 1 digital, both

1 inch, using new bases I built, and new quages. after using both for awhile I like the digital better, it will measure from the bottom up, or the top down in metric.or inches.

If U would like 1, the cost would be $80.00 plus 5 dollars shipping.

If U would like one let me know.

This is the set up my buddy Dick Jones showed me when I first met him at the races.

The gauge is a 2" travel and the base is a separate part.

Got them both from MSC. Don't think I paid more than $60 for both.

Go on Ebay and I bet you can get them even cheaper.

Thanks, very interesting depth-gage set-up.

I actually stumbled upon my original Mitutoyo "Digimatic" depth gage I purchased back in 1980's, it was packed in a box in my garage. I probably will not purchase a new depth gage at this point. Although I may buy a new digital vernier caliper.

Are you making fun of me?

I want to find things that ALL model boaters can afford and with the Engine Analysis Software purchase, an inexpensive solution is welcome by many. I didn't say that is what I use myself.
