Whose kit did you try? There was a guy in the scale forum who was working on 3D printing parts for the Merlin.

Brad,

I talk to Jim the 3D guy and he cannot make 1?6th scale right now. I tried the classic hydro kit but it needed too many mods to make it fit the boat. It is a very nice kit though

Check out the merlin that Insane boat has. It is strong and will stay together if your boat flips. It is a basic kit, However you can ad wires, paint.

3d parts guy can now do 1/6 scale. I got one it's pretty nice. Well worth the money.
