On Friday night (08/11/2017) several stuff was stolen out of trailers at Legg Lake ,CA.

Here is the quote from Rey Garcias Facebook post:

"As a community, we need to keep an eye out for two big block brand new motors in the box, a blue catamaran complete with motor and transmitter(insane), various wood tool boxes loaded with tools, various generators popping up for sale, various props and a loaded prop box, any complete gas boats for sale for some outrageous cheap price and any solo transmitters .

This theft really soured the day for everyone, and the losses for some of the guys were in the thousands of dollars.

Thanks to all for sharing and bringing awareness to this theft. Maybe the stuff starts to pop up somewhere."

The old kindness for weakness problem!! In Australia we have had many of these type situations with thieves deliberately targeting event's at RC plane event's and sadly and stupidly at handgun/Rifle ranges!!PEOPLE PLEASE BE AWARE!!(wait for the user to partially pack up a car with the boot open! Then when he goes back for another arm load out of sight pinch his stuff!!) It's a shame now that we are filming the crowd(and the cars in the carpark!!) Before we are filming the action! We have used the DATADOT system with some success! And at some larger events (in shooting) we use undercover spectators doing nothing but scanning the maggots in the crowd!! And deliberately walking up to them and engaging these RATS in conversation! You may not be a detective or a cop! But sadly in Australia neither of the latter want to do there job either! Funny thing is that when stuff like this happens and police are called (in my circumstances and only my opinion!) When you tell the police that the way I'd deal with it is start breaking bones and heads! It doesn't take but a second for police to start on you about how they will use the full forces of the law to CHARGE YOU WITH A CRIME!! a crime that hasn't even taken place until SOME MAGGOTS STOLE YOUR STUFF To start with!! Sadly this is the world we live in!!

Why do people leave there boats out over night, i leave nothing out but the table, sorry to hear about Legg Lake hope everything is found

I am sorry to hear this. We race in city parks sometimes and even in these wide open safe places during the day, once the sun goes down these same places are occupied by people that roam around looking for something they can snatch up quick and turn for a hit. I don't even like leaving my tables out at night. I wish things like this didn't happen but I have heard about it happening even during the day and during racing heats because everybody gets caught up in watching the action and forgets that there could be someone just waiting for the right moment to snatch something up. Having a hidden camera set to keep an eye on your things is probably the best idea. I hate to say it but sometimes its our very own modelers steeling from us. I know because I have had it happen to me so I know just how you feel. Ron Shaw had a brand new engine stolen from his area at a race and it has never been found to this day. I hope you get your stuff back.

Legg Lake is surrounded by a fence and there are only a main entrance and a side gate , which all NAMBA members who race and test there have a key.

The gate was locked Friday night and the theft took several generators and even a 250 lbs one plus some other stuff ...... so we don't think he lifted this heavy equipment over a 6ft fence.

Please keep your eyes open.

that's really a shame Alex. Sounds like someone must have somehow gained entry with a truck to be able to do this?

How were mono entries on saturday? Decent numbers?

Sounds to me like either someone pulled an "inside job" or someone was able to get a copy of the key to unlock the gate. It's relatively easy to get a key for a "Master Lock", the key number is printed right on the lock by the factory so, if someone got that number, all they had to do is order one and wait for the boaters to show up. Another option would be someone just came in a boat and started loading it it up. If there's a boat launch in the area, ANYONE could have done some simple recon and went to work when there wasn't anyone around. It's getting to the point that armed, licensed security is almost a requirement at any event that has things left out overnight, INCLUDING LOCKED TRAILERS!!!!!!!!!!!

I find it very odd that there was no security guard on site at this race. We hold races also in this same district and we have to hire a security guard out of our club fund for 2 nights. We are told that this is mandatory so why is it no for Legg lake?

There's a huge difference between Sunset and Legg when it comes to a secure area. We will now go to the powers to be to make sure its OK to have a license and bonded security guard inside the fence after dark.

Its a real shame that after 20 plus years of racing at that park this happened. I feel real bad for the racers that were affected.

I would like to say a HUGE thanks to Pete Markese and Raul Escutia for staying at the park Saturday night to protect our trailers. It was awesome that you two gentleman sacrificed your sleep for us, THANK YOU!

This park was well known as a criminal area after dark. Over the past 18 years I visited and raced there I was often warned by locals that the park was considered unsafe after dark. Bodies have even been found in the lake. Vehicles full of boating equipment have been stolen at local hotels in years past. I am very sorry that the theft happened, but I'm not surprised.
