Removed the liner the other day in my OS by folding a cable tie in half and inserting through exhaust port, then gently rotating engine so piston released it. Don't force it though.

AndyNightingale,

That worked for me! Now, how do I get the two crank bearings removed and the crankshaft out?

You'll want to have something to pull the bearings (ideally a bearing extractor), then you'll want to heat the crankcase and if you can, cool the bearings. This can be done by spraying an inverted airduster in the bearings. Usually just heating the case and pulling the bearings will work.

I dont pull them. With the right amount of heat they drop out. I use a propane torch and a vise grip. Mount the vise grip to the motor flange. Makes a nice handle. Its going to get hot. I put the case in the flame and keep flipping it so it heats even on all sides. You will know you almost at the right temp when you start to see the oil burn off and create some smoke. A couple second longer and your there. Light tap on the table and bearing will fall out if they havent already.

I bought a little toaster oven from the local thrift store and it works perfect for this. 5 minutes and the bearings drop out.
