Hi, need to replace my bearing on my CMB 45HR and i need to know if i need to remove all seal on my new bearing set. I think the original one have no seal on both bearing but i'm afraid to have air leak if i remove all seal!

I'm thinking to remove both seal on the bigger bearing and only remove the inside one the small one!

What do you do guys?

Thanks

Pat.

I leave the outer seal on to keep crud from behind the flywheel out of the bearing . I have other engines that have the seal off from the factory but it doesn't make much sense to me to have it open .

I leave the out side one open. This way you can flush out the bearing good. If not any thing that makes it to the bearing is trapped.

The clearance between the crank and case is the air seal.
