Guys, bear with me, I am interested to know how many of you out there are building Mike's Gas Scale Winston Eagle Lobster from ML BOAT WORK and what stage are you at?

Samuel, that's the only Gas Lobster I have seen, and it run at Mt. Vernon last year. The Lobster ran petty nice and looked awesome in the water in racing condition. I had a chance to pick the boat up and though it was a little on the heavy side and don't know if Wes placed with the boat.

John is right, It was a little heavy, but Wes has learned from that boat. He now knows how he could have done better with the weight. I will tell him this post is on here. Wes has a bubble bud now. Pretty cool

I'm surprised not seeing anymore builds of the Lobster, ML kit is awesome, I will try to post pics as soon as I can learn how to download them onto my hard drive. My Lobster is coming along petty good but still looking for a good cowl and cannot find one, waiting for Steve at RC Boats to make them and he it would be a while. Oh Well!!!!!!!! Maybe, I should just start on a plug and make my own, that's a lot of work just for one cowl!!!!!!!

I thought Phil Thomas has the mould for it.

John does not like the way Wes cowl looks, scoop is too low. John was reworking the cowl.

Phil, I'm not re-working your cowl, not wroth the time. I have started on a new plug for the Lobster cowl and so far it's looking petty good but as you know time consuming. I'm just grateful I have all the material I need and friends in the auto body and fiberglass arena, as for tool that's a different story, I'll make due with what I have with out spending big bucks. Will probably have Fiber-Tech do the mold as he as done other molds for me.

Yes Duke, "Gorge got me going" as I started building his and got hooked on the awesome laser-cut kit from ML Boat Work, since the late late 80's I have love that design. See at st. anne's race. Good Luck!!!!!

I dropped the intake down about 3/16" from the newton drawings but the overall height is correct. at least by one drawing. They changed that boat every time the wind blew i think. I dont have any 2 pictures the same. That boat has so much lift that a larger intake will just give it more lift unless you change the bull nose or do something to alter it. That boat is beautiful on the water but can be a challenge to set up. You can make it a rocket on the straight but it will be a burger to turn. If you get it to turn it wants to fly off to Seattle down the straight.

Hi Wes, I appreciate the conversation we had a while back about the Lobster and it has been a big help in making decisions on getting this design to run good on the turns and straightaways, I do like a challenge, and made a lot of changes, will see.if it will stay on the water, I believe it will.

On a side note, attempting to post pics of my Lobster build and the making of a plug for the cowl, trying to do that today. Will start a new thread.

THANKS FOR THE HELP, LOOKING FORWARD TO TALKING MORE MAYBE AT A RACE SOMEWHERE.
